Indosat Ooredoo, the telecommunications provider in Indonesia, will soon launch its fifth-generation or 5G network.

According to local media reports, the Ministry of Communication and Information (Kemkominfo) Dedy Permadi, said Indosat had submitted the process of making a Certificate of Operation Eligibility (SKLO).

Indosat is currently carrying out a 5G Operational Feasibility Test (ULO) in the 1800Mhz frequency band to roll out 5G networks in Indonesia.

"Kominfo is processing the SKLO letter which will be issued by the Directorate General of Post and Information Technology (Ditjen PPI) on behalf of the Minister of Communication and Information," said Dedy.

When asked further when the 5G SKLO of the Ooredoo cellular operator will be issued by Kominfo, Dedy only said that it was in the process. So far, only Telkomsel has received a Certificate of Operation Eligibility (SKLO) from Kominfo.

Unlike the compatriot Telkomsel, which uses two frequencies, namely the 2.3 GHz radio frequency band for the data plane and the 1,800 MHz frequency band for the control plane, Indosat Ooredoo will use the 1,800 MHz, frequency band.
