Nokia secures network expansion contract with VNPT

Nokia has won a contract extension to expand the network of Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT).

In a statement, the Finnish vendor said the new agreement focuses on upgrading and expanding radio infrastructure across Hanoi, border provinces, and the southern region of Vietnam.

Nokia will deploy its AirScale portfolio, powered by its energy-efficient ReefShark System-on-Chip technology. The company also reaffirmed its commitment to establishing manufacturing facilities in Vietnam.

The network upgrade is expected to significantly improve mobile coverage, particularly in border regions that serve as key economic and social hubs.

“Extending our partnership with Nokia is an important step in strengthening Vietnam’s telecommunications and digital infrastructure, reaffirming our commitment to meeting the growing connectivity and digital service needs of people, businesses, and government,” said VNPT chief executive Huynh Quang Liem (pictured, middle right).

“This expansion will give people and businesses better access to essential digital services, driving economic growth and enhancing quality of life,” added Nokia’s head of Southeast Asia market unit, Hiro Miura.
