Ooredoo Algeria deploys NEC firewalls for internal network security

NEC announced on Tuesday that Ooredoo Algeria has deployed its next-gen firewalls to modernise its internal network security, as well as improve operational efficiency, scalability, and performance.

According to NEC, Ooredoo Algeria needed to upgrade its internal network infrastructure to boost operational efficiency and manageability, as well as sustain service quality and enable future business growth, particularly in digital services.

As part of that project, Ooredoo Algeria was seeking a scalable, sustainable, and high performance enterprise security platform capable of supporting expanding traffic and organizational needs.

To that end, NEC supplied its network transformation service across multiple sites, providing end to end network architecture design, professional services, and implementation while deploying firewalls for central and edge environments.

NEC said the solution offers high throughput, strong session scalability, and advanced application control, contributing to reduced operational complexity and improved resource efficiency.

NEC added that the deployment reinforces the telco’s enterprise network security by enabling more secure, efficient, and resilient internal operations.

Ooredoo Algeria CEO Roni Tohme said that the solution also enables improved resource utilization and streamlined management, which contribute to a sustainable IT environment that will support the company’s digital transformation and long term business growth.

"This initiative strengthens our security posture and positions us to scale with confidence, innovate faster, and support sustainable business growth with a resilient and future-ready digital foundation,” said Ooredoo Algeria CEO Roni Tohme in a statement. “This modernization also reinforces our ability to deliver faster and more reliable mobile and digital services to our customers across Algeria.”
