Telikom PNG to collaborate with DICT on digital public infrastructure

State-owned telco Telikom PNG announced on Friday it has signed an MoU with Papua New Guinea’s Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) to strengthen cooperation in advancing digital public infrastructure.

According to a LinkedIn Post, Telikom PNG said the scope of the MoU covers digital identity, digital services and emerging technologies that can improve connectivity and create greater opportunities for businesses, government and communities across Papua New Guinea.

Telikom CEO Amos Tepi said the MoU demonstrates that the company has evolved beyond being a traditional telecoms provider.

“While we continue to deliver reliable fixed, mobile and internet services, we are increasingly focused on technology-driven solutions that help transform businesses and support Papua New Guinea's digital economy,” he said in a statement. “This partnership with DICT allows us to work together to accelerate that transformation.”

DICT Secretary Steven Matainaho welcomed the partnership, highlighting the important role of state owned enterprises in driving the adoption of digital public infrastructure and building a secure, connected digital ecosystem for Papua New Guinea.
