Vietnamese satellite startup VinSpace books SpaceX for first launch in 2027

Vietnamese private satellite startup VinSpace said on Tuesday it has signed a launch contract with SpaceX to launch its first satellites into orbit sometime in 2027.

Under the agreement, VinSpace's satellites will launch aboard a Transporter rideshare mission in 2027 as part of SpaceX's rideshare program, which enables multiple customers to share a single launch.

VinSpace said the satellites will be used to test and demonstrate its in-house developed technologies, which will help it improve its satellite engineering capabilities and pave the way for future commercial space applications.

VinSpace didn’t provide details on how many satellites were booked for the launch, what kind of satellites they are or what altitude they will orbit.

VinSpace – which is Vietnam’s first privately owned satellite company – was founded in November 2025 by Vietnamese real estate conglomerate Vingroup, with an initial capital of 300 billion dong (US$11.4 million), according to Reuters. Vingroup chairman Pham Nhat Vuong holds a 71% stake in the company, while Vingroup holds an additional 19% stake, according to Bloomberg.

The company aims to become a full-stack aerospace company, developing capabilities across the entire space value chain - from satellite design and manufacturing to assembly, integration and testing (AIT), launch mission management, satellite operations, and downstream space data products and services.

VinSpace CEO Thu Vu said the SpaceX contract “is an important milestone in VinSpace's long-term strategy to help build Vietnam's space ecosystem and strengthen the country's position within the global space economy.”
